The problem with Hoyt color accessories is you do not want to mix and match pre 2018 products with current items. Hoyt either changed manufacturers or the coloring process changed(for the better). The newer color kits, be it Grips, Shox, Shock Rods, etc are more vibrant and a firmer rubber that seems to resist tearing. My Carbon Spyder was a mix of Black and Flo Green and recently I coverted it to all Green.
I ended up having to replace all the green with the new stuff because the color contrast was so different.Regarding mark up, this complaint annoys me. My dealer gets $12 for a pack of shock rods that cost him $9 from Hoyt. Same with a color I.D.
Kit that he sells for $59 and cost him $49 from Hoyt. Want to buy that 6 Arrow Rack 2pc quiver for $99?
Well Hoyt billed him $90. If you want the ability to have access to a local shop then you have to do your part to help them keep the lights on. They aren't exactly making a giant profit off the accessories and they can't just sell you things at dealer cost. Restricting these from selling online is a way that not only Hoyt, but Mathews and other companies help their dealers make money outside of bow purchases.
After all, every shop I've been to doesn't charge any labor to work on a new bow you purchased from them. Ok in that case your dealer is a dick and is why people go to Amazon for these items. QADs at my dealer are $139 for the Black and $169 for the color versions. Manufacturer branded are a bit more unless you buy a bow then they are near cost. He even admits to overcharging on them but it gives him wiggle room to make a package deal more appealing. The problem is when you live in an area where you only have one Hoyt option the opportunity for them to jack prices up is there. I will say I have long made friends with my dealer. He knows I'm a repeat customer and knows I'm not going to pay prices hanging on the tags of big ticket items.
